Project summary:

Objectives: Through its activities - establishment of hatchery for endangered sturgeon fish species and educational center on the protection of biodiversity and river species - this project is strongly related to the achievement of the specific objective of the program: Promoting and enhancing the utilization of common natural resources, as well as stimulating nature protection in the programme area, through joint initiatives across the border. The project results will be realised physically and it will be easy to identify the joint and concrete actions in the border region contributing to the creation of synergic effects in environmental protection and resource management.

Activities:

1. Study on endangered sturgeon species and biodiversity condition in Danube river - Montana district;

2. Research and analysis of preserving biodiversity in Danube river ( Negotin`s side),rare and protected species, models and methods of local and regional biodiversity preservation here;

3. Supply of special equipment for tracking different fish species in Danube river and development of GIS system;

4. Establishment of hatchery for endangered sturgeon fish species and educational center in Bulgaria, Dolno Belotintsi village, Montana Municipality;

5. Research and Protection Programme rare river species: Sturgeon in Danube river here;

6. Eco forum „Biodiversity of Danube river;

7. Development of joint action plan for prevention of soil, air and water on Danube river in cross border region Negotin-Montana here;

8. Development of Promo project Documentary, Promo Catalog, closing conference and evaluation of projects results;

9.Establishment of a licensed educational center on the protection of biodiversity and river species.

Results: The Education Center for the Protection of Biodiversity and River Species will be licensed and will function as a training site. The Escape-species hatchery will ensure the biodiversity of the fish species and will add more protected species to its capacity, which will lead to diversification of the project's effect. Through the supply of special equipment for tracking of different fish species in the Danube River and the GIS system, the movements of endangered fish in the Danube River will be monitored.

Project summary:

The overall project objective is improving cooperation on both sides of the border through increasing of community capacity and awareness of the importance of nature protection and sustainable use of natural resources in CBC area.

The planned project activities are:

  1. Research of environmental friendly behavior;
  2. Informational campaign;
  3. Guidelines for environmental friendly behavior;
  4. Environmental awareness training;
  5. Brainstorming workshop for development of innovative eco initiatives;
  6. Training for protection of wild life and biodiversity;
  7. Training for raising awareness of water protection;
  8. Mapping of spring water fountains;
  9. Planting a tree event.

Expected results:

  1. Raised awareness on the importance of nature protection and sustainable use of natural resources in the CBC area through the conducted informative campaign; produced brochure on environmental risks and values; booklet (Guidelines for eco behavior); a map of spring water fountains; planting trees and setting up birdhouses.
  2. Improved cooperation on both sides of the border by increasing community capacity through trainings, creative workshop and exchanging experience and know-how.

  1. Local civil service organizations  from Zajecar and Vidin districts -25;
  2. Municipal employees in districts Zajecar and Vidin responsible for environmental issues - 15;
  3. Professors and students from high and elementary schools - 20;
  4. Employees in utilities companies -8;
  5. Associations of hunters, fishermen, animal protection, hikers, scouts, etc.- 25;
  6. Employees in institutions that manage natural resources - water, forests, nature parks, etc. - 5;
  7. Providers of tourist services in rural households - 12.
