Project summary:

The project aims at raising the tourist attractiveness of the region and creating sustainable tourist products, based on local resources in the field of the intangible cultural heritage – authentic cuisine.

Project activities:

  1. Inventory of the local tourism resource through joint research;
  2. Joint development of a "Strategy for development of culinary tourism in the cross-border region Vidin - Bor";
  3. Training cycle;
  4. Festival of fish and fish salamura in the village of Koshava;
  5. Culinary competition in the village of Ostrel.

Expected outputs:

  1. Elaborated study of traditional cuisine;
  2. Created and promoted common touristic product;
  3. Enhanced knowledge and skills and motivated key figures for the development of culinary tourism;
  4. Created stimulating and balanced sustainable development of the Vidin-Bor CB region.

Target groups: Local cooks and restaurateurs preparing authentic cuisine; Travel companies, tour operators, tour guides and other key figures related to tourism development; Tourists; Cultural organizations and others concerned with the intangible heritage of the region; Local authorities and other public bodies involved in tourism; the citizens of Vidin and Bor districts.

Project summary:

Main project objective is to promote cooperation among institutions and people by using the cultural and natural resources in a sustainable touristic way. Specific objectives: - Development a new common tourist product: Winter Cross-Border Tour: Varshets - Sokobanja; - Development modern, innovative, interactive platform for promoting and creating awareness the cross-border heritage from Varshets -Sokobanja.

Project activities are: organisation of the Launching Conference of the project; Cultural Tourism Winter Event in Varshets - Winter, Stars and Wine; Sport Tourism Winter Event in Sokobanja - Winter Sport Magic; development of new tourist infrastructure - ice-skating rink in Sokobanja; development of new tourist infrastructure in Varshets; development of a Programme for sustainable winter tourism development; catalogue - Winter tourism offer Sokobanja – Varshets; interactive platform Sound and Lighting, and organisation of the Final Conference of the project.
Expected results of the project are number of sustainable tourism strategies/action plans of common tourist destinations (developed 1 Catalogue - Winter tourism offer Sokobanja – Varshets, developed 1 cooperation Programme for sustainable winter tourism development); total number of newly established touristic products/services (1 Cultural Tourism Winter Event in Varshets, 1 Sport Tourism Winter Event in Sokobanja, 1 Skating rink with dimension 14x16m, 1 sledding toboggan, 10 wooden bazaar houses, multimedia system); tools developed and/or implemented for marketing and promotion of tourist products in the eligible border area (1 Interactive platform Sound and Lighting).
