EC Day 2016 - Culinary tourism festival: “Eat, Travel, Love Cross-border Cooperation”
For a fifth consecutive year, the celebration of the European Cooperation Day is going to be held in the member states of the European Union and their neighbouring countries. The aim of the initiative is to highlight the achievements of the cooperation between the regions and countries of Europe.
This year, Interreg-IPA CBC Bulgaria – Serbia Programme will organize a culinary tourism festival under title “Eat, travel, love cross-border cooperation” on the 17th of September 2016, starting from 16:00 h, at the park “Rila” in Dupnitsa, Bulgaria. The “Barbeque” zone of the park, where the festival will take place, is renovated under a CBC project within the “Phare CBC Bulgaria - Serbia and Montenegro Programme.
Guests at the festival will be able to enjoy for free freshly prepared delicacies typical for the cross-border region and the two countries in general. A professional chef will demonstrate how to prepare some of the tastiest foods that attract tourists to the cross-border region while a professional DJ will help you dance-off all the extra “pljeskavica” calories. Representative of the Joint Secretariat will be available at the event “Information point”, to provide information about the relevant projects and to give away hundreds of promotional gifts.
A special accent of the event will be the “Photo competition 2016” awarding ceremony. Winners under each of the three categories, “Food and Culinary Traditions”, “Music and Dance”, and “Biodiversity”, will be able to receive their rewards from the official Programme representatives. The rewards include: a solar power charger for portable electronic devices – first place; a camera tripod – second place; and a selfie stick with Bluetooth – third place.
The celebration is open to the general public of the cross-border region.
